The early achievements of Maureen FitzSimons in the performing arts, which we now know as Maureen O'Hara, would certainly have qualified her for the "child prodigy" category. This was a very natural characteristic for a girl who was of Irish descent, that was surrounded during the beginning by gifted family members and parents. Maureen was born in Ranelagh which was a suburb in Dublin the capital of Ireland on 17 August 1920. Marguerita L. FitzSimons had a successful contralto. Charles FitzSimons ran a Dublin business, and held shares of the Irish soccer team Shamrock Rovers. Maureen FitzSimons placed 2nd in the group of 6 FitzSimons. Peggy FitzSimons Florrie Charles B. Fitzsimons Margot Fitzsimons James O'Hara rounded off the gorgeous family. Maureen did well as a sporty woman and was a gruelling athlete in games when she was young. Her ability to perform perfectly complemented her passion for sports. In the end, she was awarded almost all of the Feis Awards for dramatic and acting in her home country. By age 14 she was invited to the highly acclaimed Abbey Theater and pursued her goal of performing in classical theatre along with operatic music.
